Nmap problem....

I'm not sure if this is correct place to post this question….

but here I go

(If it's wrong place I will remove or move it )

I've downloaded nmap-4.49rc7-setup from insecure.org and installed it on my window vista notebook successfully.

but when I run it in cmd I get the message saying that WinPcap functions are not properly installed or something like that (although I'm sure WinPcap is installed as nmap setup fires off) so I had to go to WinPcap.org too get latest version (4.02, stable).

and now….

Starting Nmap 4.50 ( http://insecure.org ) at 2007-12-25 15:42 Central Standard Time dnet: Failed to open device eth4 QUITTING!

is what i get….

any idea to fix it?

A good thing for you to do in the future is to start searching with google on the error. I searched for "dnet: Failed to open device eth4" and found alot of questions and answers regarding this matter.

http://www.nabble.com/NMap-4.2-and-Vista-to9113148.html Seemd like a good one, but if it does not help you, just use google.
