Oh… that's why. You're a genius. Seriously, how could it possibly be your server when you make a basic mistake like that? Telnet != SSH.

Yeah, that's what I thought. That's where all the mumbo jumbo about exploits came from.

I'm also using putty. but i was using telnet to get info.

i have a practice server setup and suse 10.2 and i have a site on it on my local network and i'm play with ssh, telnet, ftp

But i didnt leave telnet up because i could just use arp psn to get password on telnet and also it is in clear text.
