Spoofing my IP

for the past 3 hrs ive been researching how to spoof my IP. yet all the articles (google or HBH) aren't helping me. Could some one explain this or take me under their wing with PMs and walk me through it.

Does your ISP do any IP filtering? I'd figure that one out first, because about 90% are.

Edit: If your IP is filtered, you can't.

you can just spoof your mac address, can't you?

filtered how? as in a security set up or through a router?…

Spoofing your IP is not useful at all, since you will not be able to receive packets back to your machine (i.e., no two-way communication). What you probably need to look into is using a proxy.

sometimes poorly configured isps will let you use any of there ips, but if its already in use then the person you tried to take it from would notice something was up right away. if the purpose is to be anonymous then do it from some free wifi place, and while you're on the network dont do anything that would link it back to you ie sign on myspace. then never connect to that network again.

Go for a wireless open network (as lordwud said) or just use a proxy.

Not true, I believe. Java uses MAC addresses too, I've seen websites blocking certain IP/MAC combo's this way, gotta hate them applets.

Anyway, spoofing IPs. Trust me, you won't be able to do it. It takes A LOT of time, A LOT of skill and probably a private DNS server too ;x. You just need to use a proxy to hide your ip, easier, trust me.
