Rar password hash

Ok, to let it simple: I got a rar archive that is password protected. A friend protected it "to give me a challenge" Now, I've searched google, i only found small trial programs, that work very slow. I'm asking where is the hash of a rar password and, if you can, what kind of encryption does it use.

Edit: I know the dictionary method should work.

Elcomsoft IIRC has a "Advanced RAR Password Recovery" tool.

Ture use of google and search engines will 90% of the time net you the answer if not a good platform to spring from.
