Our *Great* School Blocking System

I have recently been looking for workarounds for my school XP system, they seem to have it locked down pretty we'll.

As a standard user 03_._______ we cannot access the C, P, and N Drives, We can however access the U drive which is a user specific and shared drive, You can only access Yr 11 shared area if you have a corresponding login.

<edit>We cannot save files anywhere except 03_.____ home.</edit>

We have access to notepad and Macromedia and all the normal apps such as calculator.

I have tried making .EXE files with command.com and C:/cmd, cmd opens along with a alert, (Do not have permission to access) and auto closes.

We can not run anything from USB or from CD drives. When we type C, P, N:/ into IE or microsoft help then it auto deletes itself. There is a strict blocking system in affect on the Internet/Intranet.

The school systems are all watched over by Ranger Remote and 3 admins :D

I have tried everything to my knowledge to work around the blocks and restrictions set in place but have not found a way how to.

If anyone has any suggestions please specify here. Thanks.

p.s. I have a nice science teacher who lets me access his laptop which has slightly more relaxed permissions but still cannot do anything of great importance.

I'm going to quote what I said in the other similar thread:

reaper4334 wrote: Why do you want less limitation?

Is there an actual reason?

Or are you merely discomforted by the fact you know you don't have much/any power on those systems?

Yeah, what's your goal?

My goal out of getting more powers on the system is to be able to delete the locally stored blocked website list therefore enabling me access, google ect thus providing me with the resources to further my education.

My other motives are less educational, Knowledge…

Locally stored blocked sites list? Just find a proxy site, therefore it wont find the site in any locally stored blocked sites list…. as odd as one sounds :ninja:

ALL proxy sites that i know are blocked, i think the school has a block filter of some sort to block out words such as proxy, all swear words ect. if this is possible

well just go to page wash that has no meta tags AND no key words (meaning nothing to block)

page wash is blocked.

As i said out Admins have got the school on good lock down.

Basicly anything that they haven't authorised is blocked!!!

So they are working with a whitelist, not a blacklist. You have to change your plans to make this work.

I'd say use the evasion method. May it be a proxy, different browser or (even) a livecd, evade their software/blockades.

Hmm… I'd suggest making your own proxy… I have no idea how to do this or how difficult it is though. I'm sure someone else here will be able to elaborate this for me :]

Here's the solution:

Wait until you're at a computer off of your school campus. Think about it: Finding a way around this is probably very difficult, but even if you could manage to do so, would you want to risk getting caught bypassing the school's security system?

As small and petty as it may seem to you, people tend to blow things out of the water. What you might consider harmless, one might consider potentially destructive.

Here's my real-life example:

I had just set up my user/pass for my new college email access. My pass was 21 characters long, and the login on their website only allowed 20 max. So, I downloaded the page, removed the cap, and logged in. Then, I made the mistake about asking the site administrator to remove the cap for those of us who prefer to use more secured passwords. He replied by threatening me that "They take matters like this very seriously" and suggested that I never alter their web pages again.

I was like, "Dude….I removed a character limitation locally so I could log into my email account" - and the guy was really pissed off too!

Ask yourself, is it really necessary to visit these websites that are blocked during school hours? Can't it wait until you're somewhere else?

Ok maybe im just in a bad mood here but….realisticly. Further my education my ass. Like they all have said why dont you just use your own computer at home. More likely scenerio. You just want to impress your friends at school.

I did that when the teach was out in desktop publishing… but damnit it would nto boot… I downloaded a gentoo image during lunch, but apparently my iso burner did something weird… it got to the initrd.img screen then died. Scheiße!

And I though I was gonna be admin soon :\

Well as far as gaining privileges, I suggest 2 things. 1st, try the system exploit. If you can't get a command prompt, just make one in notepad. 2nd, if the 'at' command doesn't work, then open up narrarator, which def should not be blocked. Click help, then file > jump to url. from there you should be able to look through any files you want..

I use a sandisk U3 at school. It has its own software that you can load on to it. Though it really, hasn't helped me get around school blocks, It does allow you to find and run some programs that you want.
