Get paid to hack vista and IE7.
In its first Quarterly Vulnerability Challenge for 2007, iDefense offered $8,000 for each flaw that can be remotely exploited in Vista or Internet Explorer 7. The company will award bounties for up to six different vulnerabilities. The company will pay an additional $2,000 to $4,000 for working exploit code.
The Quarterly Vulnerability Challenges target specific high-profile applications and software. Previous Quarterly Vulnerability Challenges focused on remotely exploitable flaws in instant messaging software and in the major browsers, including Apple's Safari, Mozilla's Firefox, and Opera's browser.

I would LOVE a challenge like that! Then again there is the flip side of becoming a sellout if you do. Still love to go though. I think this will be great for all the White hats out there because I can guarantee you that there are going to be some top talent scouts there.

I'd sell out for half a grand, at the end of the day would you rather be a secret internet geek with other secret internet geeks that like you or a famous geek with money.

They should've opened a couple boxes for testing then…. M$ has the right idea here, though.

yeah. it is a good idea for them to pay for testing….perhaps m$ will start putting out slightly less exploitable software?? hopefully its a change for the better

Why are you guys acting as if this is MS idea? If you read the post more carefully you release its a company called iDefense.

Heh, with alll the people buying Vista just to try and find a flaw, they'll make back most of that $8,000 in no time.

Anyway, nobody should trust Idefense. It's part of a "campaign" to put the "lockdown" on the Internet. In other words, it's been trying to shutdown various Internet organizations and put hackers, scientists, etc. on the lockdown. Sure, it seems about "defense," but it's really about controlling society with an iron hand. Trust me: Idefense is not something you want to work for.
