MD5 Library is currently down.
On December 31st, 2006, the HD that hosts the bot crashed. The bot will be down until I can raise enough money to cover the cost of taking the drive to a data recovery center.
The cost is going to be $200, once I can raise half ($100), I will cover the rest. Send a donation via PayPal to aefe@adelphia.net or contact ahmedc123 on AIM to donate and get the project running again.
If I cannot get enough donations, I'm afraid that this will be the end of MD5 Library.

what's the timeframe on this….like how soon do i need to have this money? if it's going to be a bit then i'll be able to donate later this month….so are you just going to have a fund for it?

With that last donation from knutrainer, I have raised $90 of the $200, and I will put in the other $110. It's about 8pm here, so I'm going to have to wait until tomorrow to bring the drive in and get the data back. I should have the data back by Wednesday and hopefully the bot will be online again by Friday!

Just curious: How big is the library? Is it possible to keep a backup drive so that you can just buy a new one instead of recovering the data from the old one if this happens again? :right:

I've always kept backups, the problem was that it was in the middle of creating a new one when it crashed :-/

I see it as sods law. Ive had several drives fail within a 2 years. Besides I dont see why jake would take money from us, over the past few years Jake has offered cash prizes to who ever defeats his encryptions. So I dont think he is trying to cheat people.

I would have sent money, i might yet, if i have some left over on my 3v card after my next purchace (usualy it goes to HBH exclusive, but i use the bot too) for anyone living in ireland, too young, or otherwise unable to get a cc, i recomend, www.3v.ie
Its like a phone top up service, but when you top up, you get a visa number and a securety code and expirey date. minimum on the card is €20, max is €350. it goes up in €10 increments. it can be used on the net or over the phone. There is no monthly fee, or anthing, but you have to pay €5 to charge the card, eg, to put 20 on the card, pay 25, to put 350 on, pay 355. Its great, ive gotten mey exclusive mebership and my HBH shirt using it, and have never had problems :) </advertising> lol, but serious, its great for this stuff :ninja:
