A program called FairUse4WM, recently posted on the internet, allows users to bypass Microsoft's Digital Rights Management (DRM) system.
Microsoft licences its DRM technology to online stores, such as Napster, who use it as a means to restrict the use of music purchased online so as to ensure copyright is not infringed.
Users of these services can downloaded an unlimited quantity of music but (because of Windows DRM restrictions) they would normally not be allowed to play files if a payment is missed. FairUse4WM might be used to remove these restrictions.

as mentioned in the article though, its not that big of a threat coz if you are intending to get pirate music then people just use P2P programs.

torrents and p2p….never looked at napster since it went legit and i dont intend to. That should be 1 more dent in MS pride :P

Microsoft will bash their heads over it. Everyone else is rolling their eyes, spinning their finger

im not sure MS are actually too bothered about it. ofcourse they'll patch it, but as said above, if you want pirated music, people use P2P instead of cracking napster files.

Reminds me of the Vongo video service that came out. They take your money, give you videos pulled straight from Stars satellite stations, and then if you miss a payment, you can't watch them anymore and the videos are very well hidden… Didn't even bother to look for them all too hard anyway, since the Stars logo was embedded in the movie…
