Changing Your Start Button Text:

This artile will show you step by step how to change the start button text for windows. So lets get started.

Step 1:

First download reshack.

Start reshack, and open c:\Windows\explorer.exe

WARNING: explorer.exe isnt something to play with if you have no idea on what your doing

Step 2:

Open the folder String Table

Expand the folder 37 and double click on 1033.

Change the text to the right from start, to what ever you want.

Step 3:

Press compile script then go File >> Save As… >> Explorer2.exe Press OK

Step 4:

Whip open regedit (Start >> Run >> Regedit.exe) Navigate to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\WinLogon

Then, where it says shell, double click and change explorer.exe to the new renamed one, which in our case is explorer2.exe

Step 5:

Press CTRL + ALT + DELETE

Go Into processes

Look for explorer.exe, click on it and press end process. If any messages pop up, say yes. This will removed your start menu.

Step 6:

Now, go File >> New Task…

Type the name of the file you saved it as (Our case Explorer2.exe)

Start it, and voila, your start button is changed until you change it back. :)

You can repeat this proccess as many times as you wish.

Any problems, just reboot and it should all return back to normal.

Not only that, you should mention the really big risks: Windows update will have problems with that, along with Service Packs and the Windows Firewall.

tip to anyone who tries this. once you've changed it, rename the explorer2.exe to explorer.exe and rename the original exploere to "explorer_backup" just incase anything happens etc, and this means windows update and various otehr programs will be able to handle it ok.
