This article wasn't exactly the best so I took it off.

this article contains what could be said in few sentences. I expected something at least more technical, when it comes to piracy, why is torrenting illegal, maybe support it with appropriate parts of legislation etc. This should be called 'Torrents for super dummies'

About torrent hosting sites:

  1. thepiratebay is not the best, it's the most well known
  2. just use torrents.to it has most large sites on a list, just do a search and it'll let you check whichever one of the sites you wish.

I will never forgive you for even THINKING that BitComet/BitLord is a "good" Torrent client. They have one of the WORST implementations of the protocol, and a lot of regular seeds who know what they're doing will block all peers using these clients. Seriously, they're shit. They deliberately disobey rules of the protocol to speed up their own downloads at the expense of others.</rant>

As for the article, it lacks any detail on the protocol itself, and is basically the noobs guide to getting caught doing stupid illegal shit.

ouchness, damn if everybody's so ungrateful than wtf was the point. Oh yeah, I pointed that out. This article is for the 'idiotic' people who keep asking me about torrents. I didnt say it was quality, point is to explain so I dont have too.

Ight, I wrote a little more on the subject and used the proper terms. Edited the bull. Should be better, any more suggestions on what I should do is welcome.

BitLord breaks the RFC. and makes me angry. At least you didn't mention azuereus. Anyway, Ktorrent is about the best out there.. pity it depends on qt, but tbh it's worth it. great implementation, nice features and a webUI. hells yeah

Very good for, as you explained… "those who keep assaulting me with idiotic questions about such a simple procedure."

I didnt mind this article because it is simple and EASY. You mentioned the basics and the basic implementations along with some of the most common programs and sites…

PS . I like, "(or perhaps a bit too friendly haha)" But Limewire isnt that bad when your smart… I say GOOD.

For what it's worth, it doesn't need to be a huge, detailed article. I use Limewire/Ares and believe they're only as dangerous as the user's decisions. It's been dubbed as dangerous because of inexperienced people who use it and get infected. For example, you shouldn't download a random exe file and expect it will be the grand theft auto game you wanted.

This is a POOOOOR article.I once submitted one about bittorrent which didnt got accepted by the,and was way more informative then this shit..Mine actually went into the history about it,about who made it,why, and when. Why it is still called THE most disruptive technology on the net.

I can't read nothing about why it works so good, how torrents actually work ( p2p ) etc, etc, etc. This should never gotten accepted. It is useless :) Sorry,i dont want to offend any1,but thats what it is.There is next to no real information about torrent technology what so ever. It merely says how to download, and that's just useless info.

Don't forget about PeerGuardian, the pirate's best friend ;) it blocks all government and anti-piracy IP addresses. http://phoenixlabs.org/pg2/

@darksun and any other noobs posting useless comments. The article is too explain how too torrent/what is torrenting. Nothing more. I wrote what torrenting is, I explained how too do this. NOTHING MORE. So go ahead and post more useless comments so we can all remember the ignorance in this world.

ghost's avatar
ghost 16 years ago

"What is torrenting? Torrenting is the act of downloading programs, books, movies, music, etc. from a certain type of site with a certain type of program." Re-read it man. No more useless comments.

k_i_n_g,little grasshopper you fucking b i t c h.i suggest you don't go about called people noobs as you are a little kid yourself, still attending classes, schools, and still learning stuff from you daddy and mommy. Not even able to write a proper article which goes in depth into things, which computer expers should do.Yhis also proves you know jack shit about computer technologies, and are not willing to put in real efford into writing an artilce, doing some research and learn stuff. You write an article, thinking it will make peoplre look up to you.But it is very appearant that you know nothing.Noob :) This article is lame,it should not be here.it lowers hbh standards even more, and it is people like you k-i-n-g that make this happen with posting such fucked up articles. It is useless, don't post such shit again. You know it is useless, people can download themselves, and dont need you to hold their hand…

darksun, not saying this is a great article, unfortunately though the sad truth is that there's an immense amount of people who actually can't download. I've been asked to download stuff for people so many times it's ridiculous, people say: "I don't know much about those kind of things", making it sound like those who download are part of some secret, ancient cult.

Damn I got here late. Everyone said what I wanted too. BBBBBlows! I rarely use torrents for anything there are too many sites you can get links too for Rapidshare, Megaupload etc…

@COM -> maybe thats true, but this is a so called "hacking" community. So these kind of things should never be here.If some1 can't download,i suggest they start at the very beginning of internet technologies, and not come here to learn to download. They should come here after at least 5 years!Asking how to download,or explaining how to download here, that's just stupid.

Like you say, that a lot of kids can't even download, that's the sad truth. But is this the place to learn them that,if "you" want to get a respected name, and not get painted off like a skiddo-site? Because that's what is happening man, more and more people start to frown upon hbh unfortunately…

But nevermind man,as you know COM,some people will never fucking learn
