How to get to blocked websites

How to get to blocked websites

In my school, when someone has a problem with computers, they usually come to me for first advice. The most common thing being asked right now is.. whats a good proxy thats not blocked? Well there really arnt any good ones anymore. Our school is very strict about proxys and catch them pretty fast.

So i took a minute to think of a way to get to a site without the use of a proxy. Then it hit me.. why not just access the website directly?

So i explained the method to a few friends and its been working great for 2 months now.

Here is what you do.

  1. Go to google.com and type Who is
  2. click the first link (www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp)
  3. type the website you would like to learn more information about, without http or www.
  4. This now shows you the websites Who Is records. If you scroll to the bottom there will be an IP of the server it is hosted on, copy it.
  5. paste the ip in the url and press enter. You should now be at the given site you want to access.. This usually only works with big name sites like youtube, addicting games, etc and the site need their own ip.

If website is still blocked, do this.

  1. Take the ip adress and at the last digit, change its value +1 until the site is not blocked.
  2. after 5 trys and nothing, try changing the value -1
  3. if there is still no luck, sorry its not going to work.

This works like a charm at my school, i get on ebaums world and addicting games during my blow off classes. Hope it helps those of you who are wanting ways to get to your favorite blocked sites without the use of a proxy.

Techically since its not a proxy, you cant get in trouble.

Happy hacking. -Frozen Flame

Why not just ping the host to find out the IP address? WHOIS searches are generally meant for background information. As for the second part, it would be faster to do a ranged port scan to find out which IP address(es) has port 80 (HTTP) open.

ment for school use, which most schools disable the use of command prompt or "run" and most of the time when your at school, you dont have access to port scanners and such.

i dontk now system i didnt delete anything.. but the point is to not use a proxy. if you use proxys in our school your account gets suspended..

Technically a phproxy wouldn't count as a real proxy, due to the fact you don't change connections, you just view the website through another website

system_meltdown: I don't think they would care if it was defined as a REAL proxy or not, they'd probably just be pricks and say you were breaking rules anyways. :ninja:

yeah…umm… i agree ping the IP, if command is blocked, go to notepad and type command.com, save as batch. If notepad is blocked or not shown, then right click on the desktop , got to new —then text document, then it should take you to a notepad–if right clicks blocked, then i just go punch my Head of Technology in the face.

lol all proxies in my school are banned, the admin checks every website visited which might sound like a proxy, if the address bar has any thing in it, such as eminem you cant view that site, the auditing system make it hard to do anything without getting caught, although the command and start aint disabled, auditing systems - I HATE THEM

A way to obtain an IP address for anysite (not just the big ones) is to use the command prompt. But my school is also really strict and its disabled. So an alternate solution is to make a quick batch file. Open notepad and type this:

echo off ping www.site.com break Now save it as anything.bat Just open it up and enjoy. It will say something like it can't be found but it will give an ip address for just about any site.

[EDIT] put pause instead of break and but a break after everyline in the file (It doesn't but breaks in comments) so echo off <hit enter> ping www.site.com <hit enter> break <hit enter> and pause <—— My typo on the previous post

when I need command prompt at my school I just right click->new->shortcut and when it asks for the app I type cmd, works like a charm.
