Dropping DNS

This is in a way hacking because hacking is making something do something its not supposed to do so I guess you can call it a "hack". But the information you receive from this article will allow you to get information that might let you do things.
So with that covered all you have to do is open up cmd. start>run>cmd. Once its open you might see
C:\windows>
That is ok to see, matter of a fact thats what your looking for. It also tell you were command promts components are running from, so what you do is type:
C:\windows>nslookup
Some people will get different things. I got this:
Default Server: dslrouter Address: 127.0.0.1
Next you will type:
server yourtarget.com
Nothing will drop. But then you type:
set type=any
Again nothing will happen nothing will drop just yet. But then for the last command you will type :
ls -d yourtarget.com
Once that is completed a bunch of stop will drop down. Information out of your mind, you can get names, ftp , etc etc.

It keeps giving me an unspecified error and I am doing everything exactly the way it is supposed to be done. Each time I get the same error: when i do the server insert site here, it gives me the IP address(es) that the site is coming from. the second command gives me nothing. and the third command gives me this error: Unspecified error. The DNS refused to transfer the zone….
What am I doing wrong? And if it is of any importance, my computer is running windows Vista.

question, does anyone how to do the same thing, but with Ubuntu ( either 8.4, 8.10 or 9.4 ) terminal and the Backtrack 3 konsole? I'm more of a Linux man, myself.

white mirage, I do the same thing on FreeBSD, only I do > set q=all, but err.. ls -d doesn't work on bind9 and axfr sends multiple requests per packet, which isn't supported by most handlers… ugh. Linux should not be much different. Personally I use sleuth.
