Hey all
with this article i will try and teach you how to use Cain & Abel for cracking. For this article i will use C&A for cain & abel and i will be using a MD5 Hash
Right open C&A and go to Cracker. Click on MD5 Hash. Just below File you will see a + sign click this and add in your hash. Now you can either Dictionary, Brute-Force or Cryptanalysis Attack. Since i only know dictionary and brute i will only show how to use those.
Dictionary
Right, I'm guessing you've added your hash. Right click and go to "Dictionary Attack." Go to add, then find the file wordlist and click open. Now click start, and your done!
Brute-Force
Do what is said for Dictionary, but go to "Brute-Force." and just click start.
Out of my expirence i find that the Dictionary Attack is quickier than the Brute-Force, but try them both and see what you prefer

It took me 30 seconds to figure out how to use the Cain and Abel cracker. A dictionary attack: Using a word list to crack the hash, usually faster because most people use normal words for passwords, the attack will only use the words in the list and nothing else. If they don't use a normal word or something that isn't in the list, the dictionary attack is useless. Brute force attack: A brute forcer goes through every possible character until it decrypts the whole hash, this can often take some time i.e hours, days , weeks and so on. That all depends on the size of the password, if it contains letters, numbers and punctuation. Can't be bothered to write any more, Google it if you need to.
Putting that into the "tutorial for dumb ass's" would have made it a bit better.
You should always explain what it does and why it does it in a tutorial, after all thats what its there for… to teach
