Internet Censorship
Internet Censorship
This is something I wrote for a debate in Language Arts. I thought it was cool, so I’m sending it in as an article. Hope you enjoy it.
Censorship *
Next to the automatic foot odor detector, and self dissolving toilet paper; censorship is the stupidest of mans concepts and inventions. Schools employ advanced filtering systems to keep certain information out, when they preach that information is the paradigm of civilization. Government basks in the glory the phrase “free speech” has brought them, but hides the derogatory comments toward themselves! The hypocrisy of man shows most when our proudest ideals are explored and questioned.
How many authors today have written masterpieces only to be turned down because of political correctness? How many times have you seen and loved a movie, only to turn to fox to see it massacred and butchered beyond recognition? Censorship has brought nothing but ignorance, ignorance has brought nothing but lethargy, stubbornness, and war. I leave it to you, the reader, the listener, the student, the teacher, to decide what is right. But hope that the right for people to hear your opinion is enforced. Trust me; you don’t want your thought, your belief, and your ideal to be lost into void and nothingness because someone else didn’t think others should here it

Fox News (god forgive them :P) criticizing a movie isn't censorship so that little bit is out of place. But all in all, nice article. Could have helped if it had a bit of length.

Censorship does have it's place in society. It shouldn't be the governemt's role to determine what socially acceptable (I believe that is the censorship you are referring to). For kids growing up it should be the parents job to determine what their kids can and cannot see. Given proper parental supervision and care, there should not be any need for government censorship. The reason that government censorship exists is that too many parents won't take responsibility for raising their own kids.

well Xero, the artcle looked alot longer on paper and sounded longer when said in one of those life-defining speech moments lol Oh, metsoc30, I meant the government and media people controlling it, I still think that censorship is a semi-good thing if governed by concerned partys (parents)
